Dumbass Independent Award

Here we are in another presidential election season when those that sling it wish mud became suddenly transparent, and truth is something the candidates wish the ever present media did not document for posterity.

I am a dumb ass when it comes to politics. All the males in my family will tell you so, because I don't get the big picture...and they're right, I don't get the BIG picture they elude to, because I see the nuances they ignore.

I have been told by male relatives who I should vote for because history will tell me my thinking is wrong, that certain politicians are keeping their lights under barrels that will only break open in the years to come. Everything said politician is doing today, before the ever present eye of the public, a tip of an iceberg too complex for me or my peers to grasp.

Maybe I am naive. I judge a candidate not on what they say; they all spout what they think we want to hear, but on how they behave.

For instance, a candidate who places political advancement before the well being of their own family members sends up all kinds of red flags to me. If a candidate outs their unwed pregnant child to quell the rumors of that candidates questionable conduct, that makes me ask a vital question about said candidates ability to represent us, the People.

Jockeying for political prominence by disregarding what is in the best interest of your family, suggests to me if over the barrel, this candidate would sell the Country out before risking his/her own political future.

Am I wrong? Maybe, but it's too important a decision to take the chance.

Another issue I have, especially with what is currently happening. History is a grand polygraph. One of the candidates wants us to believe leopards change their spots miraculously when they toss their hats into the presidential ring.

I remember the rabid assault this politician waged in pursuing impeachment against a president who lied about getting a really bad closet tonguing. Yes he lied...about an extramarital situation that had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with his performance as the leader of the land. LOTS of our presidents have willy-waggled before him.

What stuck with me is the man pursuing the hearings with such unholy glee while had both his wife on one side and his mistress on the other right there behind him while he crucified another man for doing the very same thing he didn't mind doing himself.

My relatives want this tough man, but how tough is a man who vilifies others while not outing his own immoral acts?

Is such a man capable of placing the people who put him into office above his gratifications? DO leopards change spots?

Not in the world I have spent my life growing up and old in.

We've become a world that acts like words are nothing more than ethereal wisps of vocal malarkey not to be taken seriously when they backfire, but taken as gospel when they are spouted.

I refer to the words that resonated in the mercurial mind of a sick man and made him take aim at Congresswoman Gifford and her people. It is the DUTY of the leaders to be aware of the power of words and choose them wisely. Not everyone drawn before the crowds they address are as sane as the politician blasting them.

It has long been understood the dynamics of group mentality. Speak incite-fully into such a gathering, where thunderous applause and "right on, sister," "I'm with you, brother" are shouted back, the words you choose MUST be spoken with care and understanding. If you do not understand the potential of words in such a setting, how can I trust you to understand the power of words in international situations?

I am a dumb ass. Politicians wish the mud they sling in yesterday's venue are unable to come back to haunt them, but you see, truth really IS eternal.

To those that call me names for disagreeing with their perceptions, I release you to your wisdom and honor your right to believe as you do. For myself, I look beyond the immediate issues that never get addressed anyway, to the core person and how they treat those they call family. THAT to me is far more telling about who that politician is than anything else.

So this is one Dumb Ass signing off...for now.

Love is a Many Splendored Thing

I just saw

Anna Paquin, who is expecting her first child with hubby Stephen Moyer, tells Zooey magazine that her bisexuality is “not really an issue. ”
Anna Paquin's comments about her being a bi-sexual woman, married to a man, pregnant by him, but still proud of her claiming the label "bisexual".

Long ago I came to the realization that

LOVE is the only truth worthy of my supporting.

Does that sound weird?

We are taught the

soul within us is the essence of

God...the image of

God we all share...the flesh is like the

shell many sea creatures shed when they no longer need the protection of that shell and

must search for a different shell. This analogy works for me as I have strived over the years to understand who I am in the grander scheme of things. After all, when I place myself against every molecule that comprises the Universe God created as His incubator, I am a mere

granule of sand on the biggest beach mankind can imagine.

If my soul IS God's mirror within me, does it have a gender?

I admit I have never seen my soul with the eyes I currently look upon the world with, so I cannot say with absolute certainty it does not have

breasts, and the other female accoutrement's that determine my femininity, but IF my soul had those things, I have to conclude they'd poke out of this

FLESH shell I live in...wouldn't they?

Therefore rational thinking suggests my soul is genderless...which brings me back to the theme of

Anna Paquin's conclusions and my interpretations of them.

Bi-sexual...is she?

If her soul is genderless, as I assume all of our souls are, then it would seem to me, the soul does not respond to the lures of the outer shell, but to the essence of the inner soul.

If that is the true key to love and attraction, then gender issues are nothing more than human-kinds attempts at explaining what is God's purview.

I can see many of you shaking your head, or worse, getting blastingly angry at this concept, but think back at mankind's many attempts over the eons to explain God.

Once upon a time it was against the law to think the earth was not the center of the universe...yet we now know the earth is not even the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Once upon a time it was believed the earth was flat. Christopher Columbus, sailing off to find a faster route to the spices available in the east, by accident, discovered the earth is ROUND just like the moon and sun that lights up the sky of man's history.

I am human, with the human limits upon my understanding of God's designs, but during my many college years, and while earning my

multitude of college degrees, ( I have five so far,) I think I have come across the one truth that is spread universally through all our tenaciously held beliefs...

Love is the core of God's designs.

If I am right and the soul is genderless, Anna Paquin is not responding to the gender controversy plaguing our human comfort zones, but the

soul's recognition of another soul we are meant to love and share this life span, no matter how briefly or how long, with.

So Anna Paquin, you are not hetero-bi-homo or any other sexual label mankind has decided we need to explain that which is not within our wisdom to explain...You are

soul driven, and I cannot believe that's wrong or against God's truth.

Love in any one of its many guises is NOT evil!

A Little Girl Voice Does NOT Mean Dumb as Dirt

All my life people have felt the need to

"guide" me in choosing the right path towards political rightness, although my vision is not impaired.

I was urged rather energetically, back in 2008 to vote for McCain and Palin because only they would continue running the country with the same wisdom and care

President George W. Bush had.

Recently I have been told I am either

too dumb to understand the big picture, or just a

traitor for not being gung ho about this person's favorite or that person's.

Well, I am tired of this concept that I cannot make my brain cells fire the right way...so for all those who have decided I am no brainier than a

Betty Boop cartoon on helium, I'm going to share why I DO know what I'm about.

Once upon a time I held John McCain in high esteem, but when he failed to take exception to President Bush's campaign winglets attacking John Kerry for HIS military service...how could I entrust such a man with the most important role in our government?

I understand the psychology of imprisonment, so did not hold John McCain in disdain for HIS part in the propaganda  of the Viet Nam War...It upset me greatly John McCain cozied up to a man who spent the View Nam war safe in Texas, but felt it was okay to denigrate those who didn't when his politics came into play.

I tried really hard but I cannot remember the news reporting any attacks in Dallas by the Viet Cong during that war...and trust me, they WOULD have stood out...

John McCain and John Kerry served IN the Viet Nam theater. That gives them both the right to express their conclusions about that war, but neither had the right to denigrate or diminish the other's service. John McCain embraced a political system that attacked John Kerry because he spoke what so many of us by that time knew and spoke out against...The Viet Nam War was not a war we belonged in...not because of the service men and women, but because of the political game surrounding its

And NOW we bring Sarah Palin into the mix.

I am a mother, and I love my children unconditionally. NEVER would I place myself and my needs above the needs of my children. I cannot imagine outing

my teenage daughter's out-of-wedlock pregnancy to save my own political skin...but that's what she did. How can I entrust such a person? If she didn't have the loyalty to place her children first, how can I believe she'll place me and our country first? I couldn't vote for such a person...and she proved me right when she resigned from the office she HAD been elected to when the going got too close for comfort.

Recently I was urged to vote for Newt Gingrich. I cannot delete the image in my head of him conducting the Impeachment hearings against President Clinton for basically getting a badly performed sex act and then doing what most men do about such things, lying. Gingrich attacked Clinton while behind him, in the audience he had his wife sitting on one side and his mistress, now his current wife sitting on the other. Where's the honor in this?

When I really WAS a kid, my parents used to say, "Do as I say, not as I do..." That made no sense then, and it makes even less sense now that I'm the adult.

Integrity...four syllables...not a million dollar word. I cannot imagine anyone creating a song about it like they did in Mary Poppins for that magical word

Integrity rolls off the tongue with far more ease than the Supercali word, but it means more to me than the atrocious Mary Poppins word means or ever will mean.

I was raised to believe integrity meant something...something important. Is it so much for me to want the people representing me to have it? When did that become immature, naive, traitorous?
